About the jewellery
18K gold plated
Our 18-Karat gold plated jewellery and accessories involve of a high quality of thin gold applied over a base metal through the electroplating process. The durability and quality of our 18K gold plated pieces are exceptional. Although plated jewellery may not be as resilient as solid gold, it can endure over time with adequate care. Typically more affordable than solid gold and gold-filled, plated jewellery is a favored choice for individuals seeking stylish accessories without a high price tag. As a result, our store offers a variety of price ranges to cater to everyone's preferences and budgets.
Gold filled jewellery
Our gold-filled jewellery features a composition of 14K or 18K gold combined with brass, forming a solid layer of gold securely bonded to a base metal like sterling silver or copper. This special process distinguishes between gold-plated and gold-filled items, enhancing the product's durability. All of Phkay's gold-filled pieces use between 1 to 3 microns of solid gold, fused with either brass or sterling silver, depending on the type of jewellery and its intended use. Solid gold is known for its high cost, making gold-filled jewellery an economical alternative. As a result, most gold-filled jewellery is crafted in smaller size. Positioned between gold-plated and solid gold jewellery, gold-filled pieces offer a balance in both quality and price. Depending on your budget, we have unique styles available for both gold-plated and gold-filled options for you.
Sterling Silver
All of our silver jewellery are made from 925 sterling silver. Sterling Silver 925 refers to a metal mixture 92.5% pure silver with 7.5% of copper. The purpose of forming an alloy with silver is due to its inherent softness in its pure state. This softness poses challenges in jewellery crafting, as pure silver is prone to denting, scratching and bending. Overtime, sterling silver does tarnish. However, with extra care, frequent cleaning and polishing, it will return to its normal state.
